Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
  • Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Weekend Hours: 36 (unless otherwise noted)
  • Call Requirements: Yes, 2 hours for the oncoming shift
  • Float Requirements: Must float as RRT with some NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, emergency department, adult acute and critical care

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an RRT (higher of 2 and 3 years required)
  • Certifications:
    • RRT required
    • BLS required
    • ACLS preferred
    • NRP required for NICU assignments

Unit Information

  • Patient Ratios:
    • Acute care: 1:25
    • Critical care: 1:8
  • Equipment Experience:
    • Drager V500 and VN500 ventilators
    • Hamilton T1 and C1 ventilators
    • Respironics V30, V60, Trilogy line
    • Airvo and Vapotherm devices
  • EMR System: EPIC
  • Unit Type: Tertiary, teaching hospital, level 1 trauma center
  • Patient Population: Varied, including NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic preferred

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • Experience in tertiary care and level 1 trauma settings
  • Preferred experience with NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic patients
  • Flexible, team player with strong communication skills
