Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg, Neuro Med/Surg Unit
Location: Nashville, TN
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: 3rd Floor, Neuro Med/Surg
Number of Beds: 20
Patient Ratios: 6:1
Staffing: Tech support available on day and night shifts; Unit secretary available 7am-7pm
Equipment: IV Pumps, Telemetry, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Continuous Pulse Oximetry Machines, Feeding Pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
Floating Policy: Contract staff float first; rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)

Required Skills & Experience

Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg nursing
Required Certifications:
- Active RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Requested Skill Set:
- Med/Surg experience
- Ability to prioritize care and multitask
- IV starts
- Basic wound care
- Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Patient Care Expectations

Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members
Conduct bedside shift reports
Build personal connections with patients and include them and their families in the plan of care
