Registered Nurse – Med Surg Telemetry

Schedule

• Weekend shifts only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Day and night shifts available on weekends
• Guaranteed 36 hours per weekend (total 48 hours per week)
• No call requirements

Unit Information

• Unit: Medical Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC)
• Number of beds: 43
• Patient ratios:

  • Med/Surg Day Shift: 1:4-5
  • Med/Surg Night Shift: 1:5-6
  • IMC Day and Night: 1:3
• Patient types: Respiratory, Medical Telemetry, some surgical cases, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and various acute on chronic medical conditions
• Equipment used: Ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, tracheostomy care and maintenance
• Electronic Medical Record system: Epic

Job Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on Medical Telemetry and IMC units
• Float between IMC units and med/surg units as needed based on skill and unit needs
• Interpret telemetry strips and manage tracheostomies
• Use ventilator and respiratory support equipment

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with ventilators and respiratory equipment
• Experience caring for patients with tracheostomies
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
