Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Hours per Week: 36 (no guaranteed weekends off, but fair scheduling is prioritized)
Call Requirements: None

Facility & Unit Overview

Level 2 Trauma Center with 4 critical care bays
Emergency Department (ED) setting with patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
Patient ratio approximately 1:4
Equipment includes ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro tele computer, and handheld Care Aware devices
Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems: Omnicell, Cerner FirstNet, SBAR
Teleneurology support for stroke in collaboration with a major hospital
No Pediatric ICU on site; pediatric critical patients are transferred out
The hospital serves a diverse and economically challenged community
Dress code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Skills & Experience

Experience managing non-trauma emergency patients
Skilled in care of ventilated patients
Triage experience in an emergency setting
Comfortable working with a wide range of patient ages and conditions, including pediatrics (approximately 5% pediatric patients)
