Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview
- Emergency Department with 16 beds and 8 hall chairs
- Staffing per shift: 6-7 staff (including charge nurse, triage nurse, 4-5 nurses, unit secretary, and 1-2 techs)
- Patient ratios typically 1:4, may take up to 6; low acuity patients (ESI levels 4 & 5)
- Equipment includes cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HP monitors, Tonopen, and more
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech (vital signs flow directly into chart)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN)
Typical Procedures
- Patient assessments and documentation
- Medication administration
- Wound care and splinting
- IV insertion and management
- Urine collection and lab draws
- Care for patients across ESI levels 1 through 5
Unit Policies & Culture
- Mandatory shift huddles at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM (unless providing critical care)
- EMTALA training is mandatory
- Dress code: Royal blue scrubs preferred; seasonal team jerseys encouraged on Sundays
- The unit is transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma center
- Recognized for high patient satisfaction and employee engagement
- Known for timely care of Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis, and Trauma patients
