Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a designated group of patients, utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within the scope of the unit’s services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within the scope of practice.
- Conduct initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions and patient care procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for effective communication within the healthcare team.
- Monitor EMU patients continuously for seizure activity.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including meaningful hourly rounding and bedside shift reports.
- Collaborate with critical care teams and hospitalists for advanced care patients.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit, with recent experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Acute Care nursing experience
