Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Job Details

• Work in a Trauma Level II, 18-bed Emergency Department unit that is stroke certified and treats cardiac, neuro, pediatric, geriatric, and respiratory patients.
• Fast-paced environment with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:3-4.
• Charting system: EPIC required.
• Medication dispensing via Pyxis.
• RNs responsible for drawing labs and administering nebulizer treatments; respiratory therapists and X-ray staff are on site.
• Shift: 12-hour variable shifts (day and PM), with start times between 5:00 AM and 11:00 AM, including shifts such as 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, 9:00 AM–9:00 PM, 10:00 AM–10:00 PM, and 11:00 AM–11:00 PM.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• May be required to float to other nearby locations.
• On-call requirement: 12 hours within a 6-week period, with a 30-minute response time; minimum 2-hour call-back pay.
• Weekend and holiday coverage: every other weekend and every other holiday.
• Scrub color: any color allowed.
• During flu season, mandatory mask-wearing for travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccinations, per facility policy.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• 3 to 6 months or more of total travel nursing experience.
• Certifications: BLS; ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross; TNCC; PALS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience working with Level II Trauma patients.
• Experience with EPIC charting system.

Additional Information

• Must be resilient, able to manage change well, work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Eligible for up to 36 hours of low census unbillable hours; may be placed on call during these hours with call-back pay if called in.
• Orientation week hours may vary; guaranteed set hours per week except during holidays when the unit is closed.
