Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the surgical unit scope of service.
Implement procedures and theories related to surgical nursing practice.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for use by the healthcare team.
Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide constructive feedback to support professional development.
Identify personal learning needs and pursue appropriate solutions.
Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Provide post-operative care for complex surgical patients, including monitoring and intervention during the post-operative phase.
Care for patients with new tracheostomies.
Manage complex wound care, including wounds requiring wound vac therapy.
Assess, manage, and educate patients and families on new ostomies.
Collaborate with surgical and oral maxillofacial surgery residency services.

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience, including Med Surg experience within the last year.
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
