Registered Nurse (RN) - Main Conv Care Plus

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week (3 shifts per week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care using a systematic approach: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Deliver healthcare within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.
  • Administer medications via multiple routes (IM, PO, Rectal, IV, SQ, Inhaled).
  • Perform procedures including ear washes, nebulizer treatments, peak flow measurements, splint applications, crutch training, wound care, point of care testing, IV starts and therapy, vision screenings, EKGs, catheterizations, and suture/staple removal.
  • Assist providers with vaginal exams, suture/staple placement, and incision and drainage.
  • Participate as a member of the Code Team when needed.
  • Serve as nurse lead when assigned during shifts.
  • Precept new employees and support healthcare students.
  • Conduct patient education and provide written instructions regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Perform patient rooming including collecting chief complaint, vital signs, and medication reconciliation.
  • Conduct telephone triage and communicate test results to patients.
  • Manage prescription medication refills per protocol, including calling medications into pharmacies and documenting actions in the EMR.
  • Maintain department-specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
  • Clean instruments and perform specimen collection and processing.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 3 years of clinic nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Emergency Department (ED), Inpatient, and Ambulatory Care settings
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
  • Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred (ASN required).

Schedule Details

  • Day shift: 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM
  • No on-call required
  • Block scheduling may be considered
