Registered Nurse (RN) - Centralized Registry Float

Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Schedule Details:

• 3 weekend shifts in every 4 weeks
• Patient ratios typically 1:5-6
• Floating to other medical/surgical units as needed

Job Summary

Provide general medical-surgical nursing care on Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary units. Care for a diverse patient population with chronic illnesses (e.g., COPD, Diabetes, CHF, ESRD), GI issues, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders. Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries.

Required Qualifications

• Experience:

  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience on Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care units
  • At least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital (600+ beds)
• Licensure:

  • Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication
• Utilize electronic health records (Epic) and medication dispensing systems (Pyxis)
• Manage IV therapy, including heparin and insulin drips
• Operate equipment such as Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck blood glucose monitors, wound vacs, feeding pumps and tubes, chest tubes, SCDs for VTE prevention, and heating/cooling pads
• Monitor telemetry as needed
• Provide care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses

Orientation & Training

• Jump Start orientation program:

  • 1 day general hospital orientation
  • Approximately 5 days nursing orientation including Epic training
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation (not guaranteed for clinicians returning within 12 months)

Additional Information

• Dress code: Caribbean Blue scrubs
• Local clinicians (within 50 miles) may be subject to a rate adjustment
• Client may cancel assignment up to 24 hours before start during the 13-week contract
