Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Albany, Georgia
Specialty: Emergency Center
Contract Details
- Length: 17 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd to 4th weekend
- Holidays: Every other holiday
Experience & Requirements
- Specialty Experience: Minimum 5 years of ER experience, preferably in a Level 1 Trauma Facility
- Setting: Acute Care, larger hospital experience preferred
- Prior Travel Experience: Highly preferred but not explicitly required
- EMR Experience: Must have Meditech 6.15 experience
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS or ASLS
- Certifications Preferred:
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Additional Requirements:
- Must pass an online Cardiac Rhythms test (minimum 80%)
- Must take and pass ESI Triage Exam during orientation (remediation available if needed)
- COVID immunization not required, but unvaccinated must agree to weekly testing
- Must live within 75 miles of the facility (driver’s license address required)
Unit & Patient Information
- Unit: Emergency Room with Fast Track area for less acute patients
- Beds:
- 25 monitored beds
- 6 fast treatment beds
- 6 fast treatment chairs
- 2 trauma bays
- Recess bay and dedicated stroke room
- 4-bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psychiatric personnel
- Patient Volume: Approximately 140 visits per day
- Patient Population: Pediatric to geriatric; trauma, neuro trauma (some transferred out), ortho (some transferred out), no burns; designated CVA (stroke) center
Staffing & Support
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Charge Nurse: Yes
- Nurse Aides/Paramedics: 2-3 per shift
- Security/Patient Sitters: Yes, safety sitters available
- Physicians/Mid-Levels:
- 1 midlevel provider 24/7
- Additional midlevel 9am-9pm
- 2-4 MDs depending on time of day
- Respiratory Therapy: Dedicated RT 24/7 in ER
- Pharmacy: In department 11 hours/day, on campus 24/7
- Lab Draws & IV Starts: Nurses perform both
- Tele/Monitor Techs: Central monitoring techs available
Orientation & Training
- Floor-specific orientation: 1-2 shifts depending on comfort level
Additional Notes
- Must have prior Meditech 6.15 experience
- Preference for candidates with larger ER experience
- Candidates should be familiar with ESI triage system or able to discuss triage systems used previously
- Experience with Alaris pumps is a plus
