Pediatrics Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts of 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Patient Population: Ages 0-17, medical surgical patients and hematology/oncology
- Unit Float Requirement: Yes, float to PICU and NICU
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: None
- Target Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Unit Orientation: 24 hours
- Hospital Orientation: Mandatory attendance for classes during week one
- Unit Systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR
- Scrubs: Not provided; recommended fun kid tops & navy pants
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric medical-surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Pediatric experience required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Ability to administer chemotherapy
Preferred Qualifications
- IV start and lab draw skills
- Chemotherapy experience and certification preferred
Important Policies & Requirements
- RTO (Return to Office) Policy: No RTO after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation and Do Not Rehire status
- Float Requirement: Must float to PICU and NICU units as needed
- Background Checks: Required within 90 days of start, including local, federal, and sex offender searches, education verification, and others as applicable
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit mask testing (N95 or PAPR training) required within 1 year
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Immunizations/titers required for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology and Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required as applicable
- Orientation & Training: Completion of facility-specific education modules and annual compliance training required
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo on white background required immediately after signing contract
- Confidentiality Agreement: Must be signed prior to start
- References: Two professional references within three years required for travel and acute care positions
Additional Notes
- Float to PICU and NICU: Nurses must be flexible to work in Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Units
- No Call Requirement: No mandatory on-call shifts
- Self-Scheduling: Allows flexibility in shift selection within the unit’s scheduling system
- Orientation: Includes both unit-specific and hospital-wide training sessions
- Scrubs: Not provided onsite; bring appropriate attire as recommended
