ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; total 36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• Must have experience in a 20+ bed ICU
• Floating within ICU service line to other medical-surgical areas may be required
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling not accommodated

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 1.5 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with paracentesis, bedside trach placement, and phlebotomy

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri accepted; pending license accepted
• Required certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
• Must complete Relias Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for this specialty/unit

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
• State-specific background checks and registries as applicable (Missouri Highway Patrol, Family Care Safety Registry, etc.)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test (N95 respirator) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunization and health document requirements:

  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Tdap vaccine or declination (with exceptions for certain units)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene and dress code policies, and orientation modules must be completed prior to start

Additional Requirements

• Must live at least 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
• No more than 7 days of return-to-office (RTO) allowed per 13-week contract
• Guaranteed hours provided
• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
• Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
