Overview

• Travel/contract RN role in Columbus, Ohio.
• 16-week assignment.
• Night shift, 3x12 hours: 19:00–7:30.
• 36 hours per week.
• Medical Oncology unit with progressive care beds and pediatric patients.
• 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level of care.
• High acuity PCU with a small amount of med surg.
• Patient diagnoses include solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience in an Acute Care setting
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Use of rapid response teams
• Feeding tube care and management
• Accessing ports
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• PICC line management
• Heparin protocols
• Manage cardiac drips without titration

Preferred

• Oncology experience.
• Previous travel experience.
• Management of dysrhythmias.
• IV insulin protocols.
• Titration of insulin drips.
• Phlebotomy.
• Chemotherapy administration.
• Monitoring chemotherapy.
• Wound care / wound vac.
• Arterial line management.
• Surgical drains.
• Non-invasive airway management.

Clinical Skills Required

• Interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Use of rapid response teams.
• Feeding tube care and management.
• Accessing ports.
• Blood product administration.
• Central line care/management.
• Peripheral line care/management.
• PICC line management.
• Starting IVs.
• Heparin protocols.
• Manage cardiac drips, no titration.
• PCA.
• Titrate cardiac drips.
• Chest tubes - Emerson/Pleur-evac.
• External CPAP/BIPAP.
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
• Interpretation of ABGs.
• Nasal cannula.
• Tracheostomy management.

Unit Details

• Pediatric patients are extremely rare and would likely be cared for by permanent staff.
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.
• Staffing ratios aim for 1:4-5 in med surg telemetry and 1:3 in PCU, though ratios may vary based on unit needs.
• Weekend shifts are variable.

• B450 monitors GE telemetry system.
• Bladder scanner.
• Alaris pumps.
• Stryker beds.
• Continuous bladder irrigation.
• PCA pumps.
