Registered Nurse - Oncology Clinic
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in an outpatient hematology clinic (both malignant and non-malignant adult hematology patients).
- Responsibilities include rooming patients, performing phlebotomy, central line care, assisting with bone marrow biopsies, vaccinations, EKGs, phone triage, scheduling for infusions, patient education, phone calls, and case management.
- Chemotherapy and infusions are not administered in this clinic setting.
- May work with both malignant and non-malignant hematology teams.
- Manual differentials are performed by lab personnel, not RNs.
- Must provide and bring own stethoscope.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5 days x 8 hours)
- No call, float, or weekend requirements
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of clinic experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with central line care and central line access
- Experience assisting with bone marrow biopsies
- Experience in case management
- Oncology experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), BMTCN, or OCN certifications preferred but not required.
Orientation & Systems
- Unit orientation: 24 hours
- EPIC electronic health record system experience required (EPIC Acute Activation User access).
Required Equipment & Attire
- Must bring own stethoscope.
- Scrubs: Navy blue (not provided).
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background checks required within 90 days of start, including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned.
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start (negative 10-panel urine drug screen).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days and annual updates required.
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training required within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or vaccination series or facility-specific declination), and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility policy.
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 to 10/31).
Required Documentation
- Employment application (uploaded to facility system).
- Professional references: 2 within 3 years for travel nurses.
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
- Confidentiality agreement, annual compliance training, medication safety training, and facility-specific education modules required prior to start.
- Photo for badge (passport style, white background, business attire, no head coverings except glasses).
Additional Notes
- No call-offs or additional RTO (release time off) allowed after booking; violations may result in cancellation.
- Interview with hiring manager required before offer.
- Candidate must complete all required orientation and compliance modules prior to start.
- Candidate must complete the facility’s Corp ID and I-Learn account setup process within 72 hours of contract signing to avoid start delays.
