Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

• Provide respiratory therapy services in inpatient settings including Adult ICU, Emergency Department (ED), Pediatric ICU (PICU), and Neonatal ICU (NICU) Level III.
• Weekend shifts as needed; no on-call required.
• Schedule flexibility is essential.
• Must work 2 out of 4 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
• Teaching hospital experience is required.
• Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience within the past 2 years is mandatory.
• No block schedules allowed.
• Orientation sessions occur bi-weekly on Mondays.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Vermont.
• Minimum of 1 year of respiratory therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
• Teaching hospital experience.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Additional Requirements & Information

• Reliable personal or rental vehicle transportation is strongly recommended; public transportation is not accessible.
• Must work Monday through Sunday with flexible scheduling.
• Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained.
• Complete and detailed work history is required, including bed count, EMR used, and facility type.
• Must complete all required background checks, verifications, and health screenings prior to start.
• Must complete facility-specific orientation and training modules prior to assignment.
• Must comply with all vaccination and health screening requirements, including COVID-19 protocols.
• Must complete required facility-specific forms and attestations prior to start.

Certifications & Compliance

• Background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
• Education verification as applicable.
• Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required.
• N95 fit testing prior to assignment and annually.
• Required vaccinations or documented exemptions: Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu (seasonal), Pneumonia (if applicable).
• Drug testing as required.
• Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and searches.
• Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) background check for Vermont placements.
• Facility-specific policies on dress code, telephone usage, and auto registration must be reviewed.

Health & Safety

• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as required.
• COVID vaccination or declination required.
• Flu vaccination or exemption required during flu season.
• Must maintain mask-wearing and follow infection control protocols.

References & Documentation

• Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years.
• Skills checklist within the last 12 months.
• Verification of the most recent 2 years of clinical work history.
• Employment application required.

This position offers a flexible travel contract opportunity for experienced Registered Respiratory Therapists with critical care and pediatric/neonatal experience, who are comfortable working in a teaching hospital environment and using Epic EMR.
