Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Provide nursing care in a Medical-Surgical unit
Patient ratio:
- Days: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Nights: 1 nurse to 6-7 patients
Return to Office (RTO) policy: Only one holiday off; total time off 7 days or less
Local radius for commute: 75 miles

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in New York
Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
National Tech Certification Verification
State License 1 Verification
Harassment Prevention Training Certificate
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications (Preferred/Required)

BLS (AHA strongly preferred)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) if applicable
NIH Stroke Certification (if working in ICU, PCU, ER, or similar units)
New York Harassment Prevention Training (annual requirement)

Health and Compliance Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start
Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 or equivalent)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
Drug screening (9 panel) within 1 year of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
Pneumonia vaccination or declination

Additional Requirements

Background checks including 7-year work/living history and sex offender registry
Education verification
Professional references:
- 2 for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
- 1 for per diem non-acute care roles
Competency exams as applicable (medication, EKG/dysrhythmia, pharmacology)
Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to first shift
Photo for badge (professional headshot)
