Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse
Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a Medical-Surgical unit
- Patient ratio:
- Days: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Nights: 1 nurse to 6-7 patients
- Return to Office (RTO) policy: Only one holiday off; total time off 7 days or less
- Local radius for commute: 75 miles
- Local candidates accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- National Tech Certification Verification
- State License 1 Verification
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Certifications (Preferred/Required)
- BLS (AHA strongly preferred)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) if applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification (if working in ICU, PCU, ER, or similar units)
- New York Harassment Prevention Training (annual requirement)
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 or equivalent)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 1 year of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year work/living history and sex offender registry
- Education verification
- Professional references:
- 2 for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
- 1 for per diem non-acute care roles
- Competency exams as applicable (medication, EKG/dysrhythmia, pharmacology)
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to first shift
- Photo for badge (professional headshot)
