Job Details

• Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks out, with biweekly start dates
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend rotation; holiday rotation based on department needs
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs (floats to Progress West, surgical, telemetry units)
• Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
• Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
• Pending License: Accepted
• Guaranteed Hours: Yes, minimum 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• RTO Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract

Unit & Patient Information

• General medical and surgical patients
• Skills preferred: Chemotherapy administration, Charge Nurse experience

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) experience, including experience within the last year

Orientation & Work Environment

• Orientation includes some weekday sessions due to weekend class availability
• Short Term Acute Care facility with 110 staffed beds
• Charting system: Epic
• Free parking available
• Scrub color: light gray/silver

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• Fingerprinting required if floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted where allowed:

  • Tdap (or Td for renewals)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
  • Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Various facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA, confidentiality, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, dress code, and float attestation must be completed and signed prior to start

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start (Oncology skills checklist required if assigned to Med Surg-Oncology unit)
• Two professional references required (supervisors within last year preferred)
• Employment application must be submitted and uploaded for facility review
• Competency exams required annually, including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific exams (oncology competency if applicable)

Notes

• Floating to multiple units is expected as part of the role
• Candidates must adhere to facility policies including fingernail and dress code policies or risk being sent home
• Orientation modules must be completed through the designated platform prior to start; approximately 16 hours required
• Candidates must comply with all state-specific background and registry checks as applicable

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of medical-surgical experience who are open to travel assignments and flexible floating within acute care settings. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
