Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on specialty area (refer to facility-specific requirements)
  • State License verification required (Georgia RN license)
  • Annual NURSYS verification required

Skills and Competencies

  • Experience with Med Surg diagnoses
  • Skills required:
    • Isolation Precautions
    • Wound Care/Wound Vac
    • Nasal Cannula, High Flow Nasal Cannula
    • Chest Tubes
    • Starting IVs
    • PICC Line Management
    • Blood Product Administration
    • Feeding Tube Care and Management
  • Competency exams required for medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blind testing
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system required

Work Environment

  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:6
  • Unit size: 32 rooms, average daily census 29
  • Floating required
  • Every other weekend work required
  • Call not required
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays, expected to work 2 of them
  • Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum 7 days

Compliance and Onboarding

  • Full compliance with documentation and certifications required to start on time
  • Background check, education verification, drug testing, and health documents required prior to start
  • Physical exam and immunizations (including TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or declination) required
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required (can be pending with proof running)

Additional Notes

  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Facility-specific policies on dress code and professional appearance must be reviewed and acknowledged
  • Candidate must review and sign Code of Conduct prior to start
