Job Description

Seeking a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical/Surgical for a travel assignment.

Required Qualifications

• License: Current, valid RN license for Kansas with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association) required
  • NIH Certification (updated per schedule)
  • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training
• Competencies & Testing:

  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score
  • Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical specialty-specific)
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional)
• Health & Immunizations:

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations accepted with mask requirement
  • Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccines; no declinations accepted
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
  • TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit Test: Required annually (specific mask types preferred)
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
• Background & Verification:

  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start
  • Employment verification for past 7 years
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start
  • Professional references: At least two qualifying references prior to first assignment
• Other Requirements:

  • Driver’s License/State ID matching home state for compact license holders
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip training
  • Ascension Employment and Assignment Confirmations

Experience Requirements

• Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in Medical/Surgical (defaulted to higher if discrepancies found).
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.
