Job Opportunity: RN Step Down

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
• Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
• Placement will be on a unit with the greatest need, which may be PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry units based on the nurse’s skills.
• Candidates with experience as Med-Surg or Stepdown RN are acceptable (same credentialing for both).
• Must be able to float within skill set onsite or to other nearby sites within 40 miles if needed.

Required Qualifications

• License: Current and valid RN license for Wisconsin.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
• Must pass specialty competency exams and skills checklists relevant to Step Down nursing.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Documented proof of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (2 doses or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (2 doses or immunity verification; no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (mask required if declined)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
  • TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with annual updates; chest X-ray if positive
• Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 or 1870+ masks) required annually.
• Health statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually.
• Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
• Color vision test prior to start and updated every 3 years.

Background and Verification

• Professional references (minimum two) required prior to assignment.
• Criminal background check including social security trace, OIG search, and national sex offender registry.
• Employment verification for the past seven years.
• Education verification relevant to clinical work.
• License verification and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Completion of specialty exams and core competency tests with minimum passing scores.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete onboarding requirements including skills checklists, unit-specific checklists, and electronic health record (Epic) test-out.
• Must provide a current driver’s license or state ID matching the address on file.
• Must submit a professional resume/profile.
• Must provide a forward-facing badge photo with a white or blue background (no alterations).

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs.
