Job Opportunity: RN Telemetry I (Float Pool)

Job Description

• Position: Float Pool Med/Surg Telemetry RN
• Schedule: Nights & Every Other Weekend (EOW), 36 hours per week
• Must be willing to float to 8 different units within the hospital
• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, cardiac drips, and reading telemetry strips
• Patient care includes ED border patients, acute mental health medication nursing, and non-vented ICU transfer-ready patients

Units Covered

• Med/Surg Telemetry areas including:

  • Davenport 5, 7, 8, 9
  • Emergency Department (ED)
  • PH6/7
  • Pingree 4
  • Overflow units

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years acute care hospital experience preferred
• Skills:

  • Telemetry monitoring (measuring intervals and interpreting strips every 4 hours)
  • TR Band experience
  • Ability to perform cardiac drips and read telemetry strips
• Clinician to patient ratio:

  • Days & evenings: up to 5:1
  • Nights: up to 6:1
• Patient population: Med/Surg, ED border, acute mental health, ICU transfer-ready non-vented patients
• Bed count: 371 total; units range from 8 to 41 beds
• Charting system: EPIC

Licenses & Certifications

• Current Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (required)
• ACLS (optional but required for RNs on Observation Unit)

Required Onboarding Credentials & Health Requirements

• License/Certificate Verification (primary source verification required within 30 days of start)
• Fit Test (N95 respirator fit test within 365 days, updated annually)
• MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days)
• MGB Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30) with no exemptions
• TB Test (skin test or blood test within 3 months, updated if >6 month break)
• Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days, updated if >6 month break
• Criminal Background Check (within 45 days prior to start, updated if >6 month break)
• Massachusetts CORI background check (within 30 days prior to start, updated if >6 month break)
• Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
• MGB Education Verification (highest level of education verified)
• MGB SSN Trace (addresses for past 7 years)
• MGB National Sex Offender Check (within 30 days of start, updated annually)
• MGB Exclusion Checks (within 30 days of start, updated annually)

Additional Notes

• Must be flexible to float across multiple units
• Experience with telemetry and cardiac care is essential
• Must be comfortable working nights and every other weekend schedule
• EMR system used is EPIC
