Job Opportunity: Float Pool Med/Surg Telemetry RN

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Float Pool RN position requiring willingness to float between 8 different units within the hospital.
• Shifts include Days, Evenings, and Nights with a rotating schedule every other week (EOW).
• 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring and management of cardiac drips.
• Reading and interpreting telemetry strips every 4 hours.
• Care for a diverse patient population including:

  • ED border patients
  • Medication nurse duties in the acute mental health unit
  • Non-vented ICU patients who are transfer ready
• Float across multiple Med/Surg Telemetry units and other hospital areas.

Experience & Skills Required

• Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience (higher value confirmed).
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring, including measuring intervals and interpreting strips.
• Experience with TR Band.
• Ability to perform cardiac drips and read telemetry strips.

Patient Ratios

• Days & Evenings: up to 5:1
• Nights: up to 6:1

Unit & Facility Information

• Units range from 8 to 41 beds.
• Total bed count: 371.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: EPIC.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current Massachusetts RN License required (no conditional licenses accepted).
• AHA BLS certification required (only AHA accepted, no Red Cross for this facility).
• ACLS certification preferred but optional.

Additional Required Credentials & Compliance

• License/Certificate Verification (primary source verification required within 30 days of start).
• Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually.
• Medication Exam with 80% passing score within 365 days.
• Dysrhythmia Exam with 80% passing score within 365 days.
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity required.
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions.
• TB screening within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break.
• Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date.
• Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, National Sex Offender Check, and Exclusion Checks required.
• Documentation of education verification and references required.
• Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required for submission.
