Unit

• Telemetry Unit
• 32 beds
• Fast-paced, high-acuity cardiac telemetry unit
• Floats as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• 1 year of experience in Med Surg / Telemetry
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• Driver's License
• Experience reading telemetry
• Experience with congestive heart failure (CHF) care
• Experience with cardiac or critical care drips
• Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications
• Experience with central lines, including hemodialysis catheters, ports, and PICCs
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for travelers from November 1-April 1; declinations are not accepted

Preferred Qualifications

• Tikosyn and Sotalol initiation
• Potential experience with dopamine, dobutamine, lidocaine, nitro, and milrinone drips
• Chest tubes and other drains
• CIWA withdrawal protocol

Patient Population / Clinical Experience

• CHF
• Chest pain
• Arrhythmias, mostly AFib, flutter, and SVT
• Respiratory
• Renal
• Hemodialysis
• Overflow patients may include sepsis, urology, surgical, ETOH/drug withdrawals, isolation, and GI bleeds

Schedule / Staffing Notes

• Weekend hours as required by facility, every other weekend
• No call
• Blocked scheduling may be approved based on facility requirements
• RTO of 5 days or less must be made up on the back end
• Holiday RTO: 1 per assignment
• Night shift orients on day shift; traveler must be available the entire week for orientation

Work Conditions

• Stand and walk most of the time
• Significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• May work differing schedules, shifts, days, or frequency based on patient care needs
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• May need to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 15 lbs; kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
