Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days and nights (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Call Requirement: No call
Weekends: Alternating
Unit Overview
- Labor and Delivery unit on the 4th floor
- 32 beds, staffed by approximately 150 personnel
- Patient ratio: 1 RN to 1-2 patients
- Day and night shifts each staffed with 1 charge nurse, 1 co-charge nurse, and RNs to maintain patient ratios
- Equipment includes Novii, JADA, Fetal Pillow, IUPC, FSE, Toco
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- AWHONN certification
- BLS certification
- NRP certification
Typical Procedures Performed
- Spontaneous Vaginal Delivery (SVD)
- Cerclages
- Cesarean Sections (C-Sections)
- Trial of Labor After Cesarean (TOLAC)
Work Environment & Culture
- Team-oriented with emphasis on positive attitude
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs; navy blue T-shirts are not acceptable; solid blue, black, or grey sweatshirts only
- No call requirement enhances work-life balance
- Unit offers schedule options and uses advanced equipment and technology
Additional Notes
- Permanent positions are available on the unit
- The unit recruits travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters
- Attendance policy adherence is required
- The unit values team players and a positive work environment
