Travel RN - Neuro Surgical

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Med Surg / Neuro Surgical
• Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 (48 hours considered upon request)
• Weekend Hours: As needed, with an expectation of every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Call Requirements: None
• Number of Openings: 2
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (3 months)
• Requested Time Off: Up to 5 days per 13-week period automatically approved; additional time off requires leader approval and may need to be made up
• Holiday Work: Expected to work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of inpatient acute care experience in Med Surg and Neuro
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS
• Willingness to occasionally serve as Charge Nurse (training provided)
• Ability to float within scope as needed

Unit Information

• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• EMR System: EPIC
• Equipment: FIT test required on site
• Type of Patients: Neuro-surgical patients including those with stroke, seizures, MS, back/head/spinal issues, and neurosurgery procedures

Job Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care in a Neurosurgical unit
• Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients
• Evaluate care effectiveness provided by other direct caregivers
• Coordinate patient care with other departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality

Work Environment & Culture

• Team player and patient-focused personality fit required
• Dress code: Black scrubs
• No call requirements
• Float as needed within scope

Additional Notes

• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (exemptions require client approval)
• Standard expectation includes working every other weekend and at least one major winter holiday
