Travel RN - Labor and Delivery
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking a Labor and Delivery RN with 3-5 years of experience, preferably trained in the LDRP model, including labor and delivery, postpartum, c-section circulation, and special care nursery.
Unit & Facility Information
- Unit: LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
- Department: Maternity (24 beds)
- Trauma Level: Level III
- Patient Population: Neonates and Adults
- Patient Ratios: 1:6 (census varies from 3 to 24 patients)
- Equipment: EFM (External Fetal Monitoring), IV
- EHR Systems: Cerner, Powerchart, Omnicell Med System
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (4x12-hour shifts)
- Rotating shifts with self-scheduling
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 48
- Call requirements: Yes
Required Certifications
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Preferred
- AWHONN Intermediate – Preferred
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in Labor and Delivery (higher value applied)
- Must have experience managing a 3-couplet assignment
- Experience in L&D, LDRP, and postpartum care
- Must be able to triage obstetrical patients and use EFM
- Skills in starting and maintaining peripheral IVs
- Ability to administer antihypertensives and insulin drips
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and recover C-sections
- Newborn care including APGAR scoring, baby nurse duties, cord sampling, ID/security banding, radiant warmers, thermoregulation, and newborn assessment
- Epidural anesthesia pain assessment and management
- Postpartum care and mother/baby postpartum procedures
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Level 1 Nursery
- Mother/Baby care
- Circulating for C-sections

- No first-time travelers accepted
- No float requirements
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
