Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- ICU experience
- Level I trauma experience
Unit Details
- Surgical ICU with 13 beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, with occasional 1:1 or 1:3 assignments
- Common patient types include post-surgical, open abdomen, multisystem trauma, and endovascular cases
- Nurses titrate drips, including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin
- Nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips
- Respiratory therapy is available in the ICU 24/7
- Charge nurse and house supervisor coverage is available
- Patient care techs are present on the unit
- Intensivist coverage is available in the ICU, with telemedicine support after daytime hours
Schedule Requirements
- 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
- Every other holiday
- Floating may occur to lower levels of care, where the nurse would take a full assignment

- Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
- Drug screen must be negative
- No call or standby requirement
- No specific scrub color is required
