Occupational Therapist (OT)
Location: Jamestown, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Job Summary
- Assess, plan, organize, develop, and implement occupational therapy programs for patients of all ages (pediatrics to geriatrics) to facilitate rehabilitation of mentally or physically handicapped individuals.
- Direct patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance, promoting adaptation, productivity, and health maintenance.
- Evaluate physical, psychological, cognitive, and social needs, including Swingbed patients.
- Collaborate with rehabilitation team members to select appropriate therapy programs tailored to patient needs and capabilities.
- Teach skills and techniques for independence in self-care activities and evaluate patient progress.
- Adapt therapy programs as needed based on individual patient requirements.
- Perform work site and hospital ergonomic assessments with written recommendations.
- Design, fabricate, and fit adaptive devices such as splints and braces.
- Provide therapy services for Home Health and contracted facilities or groups.
- Supervise Rehab Aides, Students, Rehab Secretary/Aide, and COTA as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold high standards of patient and employee welfare.
Required Qualifications
- M.S. or B.S. Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current licensure eligibility in North Dakota and registration with NBCOT.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
- CPR certification to be completed every other year.
- At least 1 year of work experience as an occupational therapist is desirable but not required.
- Strong analytical ability for ongoing patient assessment and treatment plan adjustments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Information
- Non-billable orientation: 8 hours (orientation hours are not guaranteed billable hours).
- Usual days off: Saturday and Sunday.
- Must be in good general health.
- Must be able to speak and write English clearly.
