• Shift: Nights (8-hour shifts)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Work Schedule: 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts available; primarily day/evening shifts but night shifts require full specialty experience
• Call Requirements:

  • One weeknight on-call (7pm-7am) rotation
  • One weekend 24-hour on-call (7am-7pm) per month
  • Holiday call rotation as needed
  • Call response time: 30 minutes (if more than 30 minutes away while on call, must stay on site)
• Floating: May be required to float to outpatient surgery

Unit Information

• Operating Room with 9 OR suites, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid room
• Open 24/7 with 35-45 cases per day
• Common cases include general surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedic robotics (Da Vinci, Rosa), neuro spine, trauma, vascular access, pediatrics (dental and ENT), and emergent cases (appendectomy, stab wounds, craniotomies)
• No cardiovascular OR or labor & delivery coverage (except C-sections)

Required Qualifications

• RN license appropriate for West Virginia
• 2-3 years of experience in OR nursing specialty
• 2-3 previous travel assignments required
• Orthopedic experience required
• Experience passing arms in and out for robotic surgeries required
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (PALS preferred but not required)
• Scrubbing as an RN is a plus but not mandatory
• Must be comfortable working overnight shifts with 2 techs (only RN overnight on night shift)
• Charge nurse duties required during 7am-7pm shifts; travelers rotate through charge nurse role

Orientation and Training

• Unit-specific orientation: 1 week, 3 shifts
• Scrubs provided for RNs and OR techs

Additional Notes

• No aides or housekeeping support; techs responsible for room turnover
• OR staff primarily consists of travelers
• Minimal experience in one service line may be acceptable for day shifts (M-F 7am-3:30pm) with facility support and willingness to learn or refresh skills
• Full specialty experience required for evening, night, and longer shifts (11pm-11am, 3pm-11pm, nights)
