Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery

Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required; some day shifts may be required
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs for gynecology and mom/baby care; hospital-provided scrubs for Labor & Delivery

Job Description

Provide nursing care for Labor & Delivery (L&D) patients, including high-risk deliveries
Care for postpartum mothers and babies
Postoperative care for gynecological surgical patients
Float to Newborn Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as needed
Use fetal monitors, suction, oxygen, vital signs monitors, OBIX documentation, centralized L&D monitoring, and EPIC for gynecology patients

Unit Details

Unit size: 19 beds
Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- L&D: 1:1 or 1:2
- Mom/baby couplets: 1:3
- Gynecology: 1:4
- Mixed mom/baby and gynecology patients: 1:5-6
Orientation: 36 hours for travelers, focused on unit-specific training
All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Gynecology nursing
Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
STABLE certification preferred but not required
Willingness to float to Newborn Nursery and NICU
Must not have a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility (local travelers not accepted)
Must disclose if previously employed at this facility; if so, last employment must have ended at least 6 months prior to application

Candidates should indicate any required time off during the assignment in the comments section
This is a night shift position with some day shifts and weekend work required
Scrubs color and badge-in/out policies must be followed strictly

This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery nurses comfortable with high-acuity patients and flexible floating assignments.
