Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery
Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required; some day shifts may be required
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs for gynecology and mom/baby care; hospital-provided scrubs for Labor & Delivery
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for Labor & Delivery (L&D) patients, including high-risk deliveries
- Care for postpartum mothers and babies
- Postoperative care for gynecological surgical patients
- Float to Newborn Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as needed
- Use fetal monitors, suction, oxygen, vital signs monitors, OBIX documentation, centralized L&D monitoring, and EPIC for gynecology patients
Unit Details
- Unit size: 19 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- L&D: 1:1 or 1:2
- Mom/baby couplets: 1:3
- Gynecology: 1:4
- Mixed mom/baby and gynecology patients: 1:5-6
- Orientation: 36 hours for travelers, focused on unit-specific training
- All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Gynecology nursing
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- STABLE certification preferred but not required
- Willingness to float to Newborn Nursery and NICU
- Must not have a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility (local travelers not accepted)
- Must disclose if previously employed at this facility; if so, last employment must have ended at least 6 months prior to application
Additional Notes
- Candidates should indicate any required time off during the assignment in the comments section
- This is a night shift position with some day shifts and weekend work required
- Scrubs color and badge-in/out policies must be followed strictly
This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery nurses comfortable with high-acuity patients and flexible floating assignments.
