Med Surg Nurse - Nights

Location: Murphysboro, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (7 PM to 7 AM), every other holiday and weekend, no on-call

Unit Description

• Medsurg unit with a blended patient population including a Swing Bed Program and occasional PCU-level care.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Medsurg: 1:5
  • Swing Bed: 1:5-6
  • PCU: 1:3-4 (depending on patient drip status)
• Assignments are balanced based on nursing workload and patient care level.
• Supportive supervisors assist with assignments, especially for nurses with Medsurg background only.
• The team is highly engaged and leads several unit committees.
• The facility holds a Pathways to Excellence designation, emphasizing safety, quality care, positive environment, and shared decision-making.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience
• Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
