Job Summary

The RN Manager for Invasive Cardiology is a registered nurse with strong leadership and operational management skills, specializing in care for patients undergoing invasive cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures. This role involves directing inpatient and outpatient care programs in catheterization and electrophysiology labs, ensuring a high standard of patient care and safety.

The manager oversees day-to-day clinical operations, maintains nursing practice standards, and upholds the nursing code of ethics. They serve as a role model by embodying core values such as patient-first focus, excellence, integrity, inclusion, continuous learning, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for clinical care quality and departmental performance metrics
  • Support strategic initiatives by establishing quality and safety programs
  • Develop and update performance improvement tools, productivity reports, and quality statistics
  • Resolve patient complaints promptly and in accordance with policy
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Manage department budget and resources with understanding of financial processes
  • Represent nursing staff in collaboration with senior leadership and healthcare professionals
  • Serve as a resource for physicians and staff
  • Foster an inclusive workforce valuing individual differences
  • Manage team selection, retention, performance, coaching, and development
  • Provide real-time feedback, training, and recognition to staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Educator, or similar roles)
  • Knowledge of academic medical center structures, service lines, governance, and decision-making hierarchies
  • Skills in planning, coordinating, and measuring departmental activities
  • Business acumen including experience with performance improvement tools, metrics-driven decision making, budgeting, report writing, and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and leverage technology and resources effectively
  • Understanding of industry standards to support strategic decisions and risk assessment
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, mediate conflicts, and foster cooperation
  • Awareness of unconscious and systemic bias in care delivery and operations
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate individuals and cross-functional teams, including project management support
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, openness, integrity, and diplomacy
