Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Mid
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. Key responsibilities include assessing patients, developing and implementing care plans, evaluating patient responses, and educating patients and families. You will also supervise licensed and non-licensed staff, mentor and precept colleagues, and participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent clinical decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and function as a mentor/preceptor to staff.
- Promote teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvements and comply with regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Acute care nursing experience
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
