Medical Lab Tech - Travel Position

Location: West Bend, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel Allied Health (Clinical)
Shift: 2nd Shift (includes weekends and holidays)
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

• Perform laboratory procedures independently with minimal supervision, following established protocols.
• Responsible for quality control, instrument maintenance, specimen procurement, and processing.
• Perform timely blood collection to ensure availability of test results.
• Interpret and verify test results, recognizing and investigating abnormal or inconsistent results promptly.
• Notify leadership immediately of potential problems to avoid compromising patient care.
• Prioritize and multitask to complete assignments timely, adjusting to fluctuating workloads.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations.
• Utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other tools for special projects.
• Perform and document quality control procedures and corrective actions as needed.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, including troubleshooting and documenting issues.
• Participate actively in training students and new employees, assist in curriculum development.
• Complete all required competency assessments and follow performance improvement plans.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with leadership, peers, and customers.
• Assist in error detection, investigation, documentation, and suggest process improvements.
• Provide evidence of continuing education participation annually.

Required Qualifications

• Medical Lab Technician with at least 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year.
• Combined military experience and training that aligns with CLIA and CAP requirements.
