Registered Nurse – MedSurg/Telemetry

Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina

Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for patient assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients with complex medical-surgical and telemetry needs, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize patient care based on individual and family needs.
• Assess patient and family readiness to learn; use appropriate patient education materials.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and update care plans.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement activities, and promote cost-effective care.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Communicate effectively to promote continuity of care and provide feedback to coworkers.
• Recognize and synthesize complex assessment data to determine care priorities.
• Anticipate discharge needs and support patient/family advocacy.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and education.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
