Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Location: Albany, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks (flexible to 8 or 17 weeks)
Shift: 12-hour days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 or 48 (not guaranteed during orientation)
Start Dates: April 27 or May 11

Job Details

• Work on a Medical-Surgical Acute Care unit (6 unit) with float responsibilities to acute care, cardiology, and Emergency Center for patient holds. Mid-shift floats are rare and only for emergent needs.
• Weekend rotation every other weekend.
• Must work 2 out of 3 holidays.
• On-call/call back is rare.
• 30-minute break per shift.
• Patient ratios: 1:6 for both day and night shifts.
• Nurse aides available with ratios generally 1:8 to 1:10.
• Uniform colors: Caribbean blue or white.
• EMR system: Meditech Expanse (experience with HCA Meditech not accepted).
• Radius rule: Must live within 75 miles of the facility.
• No return to origin (RTO) within 2 weeks before starting and no more than 7 total days of RTO allowed.

Required Qualifications

• Current Georgia or compact RN license.
• Minimum 2+ years recent experience on a Medical-Surgical unit.
• Recent experience with Peripheral IV (PIV) insertions, Sickle Cell management, and tracheostomy care/management.
• Completed at least 1 prior travel assignment (no new travelers).
• Certifications required at submission:

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • AHA NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred certification: AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Education: Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• First week of orientation will be day shift.
• Potential to float to a nearby campus 1.8 miles away.
