Job Opportunity: Sterile Processing Tech

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
  • Schedule: Rotating weekends every other week (EOW), holidays as needed
  • Work Radius: Local rate within 60 miles of facility

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
  • Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation including:
    • Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccines or positive titer
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
  • Sterile Processing Tech certification (CBSPD original copy required)
  • National certification preferred (NBSTSA or NCCT)

Experience Verification

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Verification of at least 2 years of employment in the past 7 years, including at least 1 prior travel assignment

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete facility-specific modules prior to start
  • N95 fit test may be completed on-site if needed
  • Annual competency exams and safety manual acknowledgments required

This position is ideal for experienced Sterile Processing Technicians with prior travel experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in the Washington, DC area.
