Job Description
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Work Settings: Adult Acute Care, Adult Outpatient, ER/Trauma
- Patient Diagnoses: Musculoskeletal, neurological, and body cases
- Procedures: General MRI exams; some anesthesia cases; no biopsies or procedures performed in MRI
- Equipment: GE 1.5T 450W scanner, GE 1.5T Artist scanner, Phillips Physiological Monitors, Iradimed Medicine Pump
- Shift: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM
- Weekend Requirement: Every Sunday
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: None
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Scheduling Type: Blocked
- Scrubs Color: Royal Blue
Required Skills and Certifications
- Valid MRI Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of MRI Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- Experience in Acute Care and Outpatient settings
- ARRT MR (Magnetic Resonance) certification
- ARRT R (Radiography) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

- Abdomen and Pelvis: Abdominal MRA, MRV, MRCP, Female/Male Pelvis
- Head and Neck: Brain, Cranial Nerves, Face/Soft Tissue Neck, Head MRA, MRV, Orbits
- Musculoskeletal: Foot, Hand, Hip/Bony Pelvis, Knee, Lower Extremity Long Bones, Shoulder, Sternum, TMJ with/without contrast, Upper Extremity Long Bones
- Spine: Cervical, Lumbar, Sacrum/Coccyx, Thoracic, Thoracic MRA
- Special Imaging Procedures:
- CINE (Cerebrospinal fluid flow study)
- Diffusion (non-brain)
- Gradient Echo Imaging
- Image post-processing (ADC mapping, subtraction)
- Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP)
- Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR)
- Peripheral Magnetic Resonance Angiography (Iliac, runoff)
- Spin Echo Images
- Surface Coils
- T1 and T2 Weighted Images
- Professional Knowledge:
- Isolation Precautions
- Preparation and/or administration of contrast media
- Starting Peripheral IVs
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Experience in Adult ICU, Pediatric Acute Care, Pediatric Outpatient
- Chest imaging including Breast
- Experience with Phillips equipment
- Special Imaging Procedures: Perfusion
- Trauma Spine imaging
Required Background and Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (updated annually if past positive TB)
- Fit mask testing (N95 or PAPR training) within 1 year
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (10-panel drug screen)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
Orientation and Compliance Requirements
- Background checks including local, federal, national criminal databases, sex offender search, education verification
- State-specific registry and exclusion list checks for North Carolina
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (8-10 hours for acute care)
- Medication safety training and competency exams as applicable
- Competency exams including color blindness testing and others as required
- Radiation badge required for Radiology Techs (if applicable)
- Confidentiality agreement and hospital policies acknowledgment
- Annual compliance and mandatory education training
Additional Information
- No call or float requirements
- Blocked scheduling with weekend work every Sunday
- Travel experience is mandatory for this role
- Orientation includes 36 hours of training
- Scrubs color: Royal Blue
This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 2 years of experience, who have prior travel experience, and are certified in ARRT MR and Radiography. The role involves working with advanced MRI equipment in a community hospital setting with a focus on a variety of imaging procedures across multiple body systems.
