Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Springfield, Illinois
- 13-week assignment
- Day shift: 4x10s, 6:45 AM–5:15 PM
- 23 rooms
- Acute Care Hospital; Level I trauma center; Magnet hospital/facility
- 562 staffed beds
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- OR - Operating Room (2.5 years of experience)
- OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- General Surgery case experience: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple
- Bariatric case experience: Laparoscopic assisted cases
- Neurology case experience: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion
- Orthopedic case experience: Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures
- Plastic Surgery case experience: Free Flap - Microvascular
- Transplant experience: Organ donation
- Urology case experience: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy
- Electrosurgical units operation
- Fiber optic light sources/cords operation
Preferred Qualifications
- CNOR preferred
- Cerner experience preferred
Schedule / Assignment Details
- Weekend requirement: 1 per month
- On-call required: 1/week, though not usually that often anymore
- Floating: within skill set; rarely happens
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Traveler chooses 13–26 weeks
Clinical Experience / Case Mix
- Works with all service lines except CV
- Required trauma case skills/experience: amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries)
- Required emergency management skills/experience: code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia
- Required equipment/instrumentation/supplies experience: Hana tables
- Required professional knowledge and skills: administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure, urinary bladder catheterization
Charting / Worksite Notes
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrub color provided for this role
- Parking permit required; no cost
Additional Notes
- All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the manager
- Housing review is part of submittal instructions
