Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Springfield, Illinois
• 13-week assignment
• Day shift: 4x10s, 6:45 AM–5:15 PM
• 23 rooms
• Acute Care Hospital; Level I trauma center; Magnet hospital/facility
• 562 staffed beds

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• OR - Operating Room (2.5 years of experience)
• OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• General Surgery case experience: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple
• Bariatric case experience: Laparoscopic assisted cases
• Neurology case experience: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion
• Orthopedic case experience: Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures
• Plastic Surgery case experience: Free Flap - Microvascular
• Transplant experience: Organ donation
• Urology case experience: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy
• Electrosurgical units operation
• Fiber optic light sources/cords operation

Preferred Qualifications

• CNOR preferred
• Cerner experience preferred

Schedule / Assignment Details

• Weekend requirement: 1 per month
• On-call required: 1/week, though not usually that often anymore
• Floating: within skill set; rarely happens
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Traveler chooses 13–26 weeks

Clinical Experience / Case Mix

• Works with all service lines except CV
• Required trauma case skills/experience: amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries)
• Required emergency management skills/experience: code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia
• Required equipment/instrumentation/supplies experience: Hana tables
• Required professional knowledge and skills: administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure, urinary bladder catheterization

• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color provided for this role
• Parking permit required; no cost
