Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
- Assignment to cover FMLA for 16 weeks
- Acute dialysis RN role
- Shifts: 10-hour days (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Every other weekend commitment and on-call hours (call and floating expected)
- Pediatric experience required
- Apheresis experience preferred
- Must work 2 out of 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day
Requirements
- AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
- Experience in a large teaching facility (500+ beds)
- Experience in acute care unit working with very sick patients
- EPIC experience within the past 2 years (mandatory)
- Prior travel experience required
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April
Certifications & Verifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - as required by unit/job
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required
- Tech Certification verification within 30 days of assignment start
- State License verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification as required
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Color Blind Testing (online)
- Competency exams as required by specialty
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination and attestation required
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search
- Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) criminal background check (for Vermont placements)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- N95 Fit Mask test prior to assignment and updated annually (specific mask types required)
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years or titer
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within past 12 months (annual updates required if positive)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Drug testing within last 12 months (required for NY facilities)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination required if assigned to NY facility
Orientation & Scheduling
- No block schedules allowed
- Orientation offered bi-weekly on Mondays
- Must complete EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
- Must provide screenshot of module completion
- Monday to Sunday work schedule
Additional Notes
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Complete work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type required for submission
- Photo for badge required two weeks prior to start (passport style, plain background, no logos or hats)
- Must review dress code and telephone usage policies prior to start
- Auto registration form must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work (if required) includes early arrival and mask-wearing at all times
- Reliable transportation is essential due to lack of public transit

- Two professional references from assignments within last 3 years
- Skills checklist within 12 months
- Employment application required
- Work history verification for last 2 years of clinical work
