Unit Description

• Unit Type: Surgical Stepdown Unit / PCU
• Beds: 26
• Patient Population: Adult, acute care patients requiring specialized care beyond general medical-surgical units. Patients may require continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring, airway management, acute BIPAP support, and titrated medicated IV infusions.

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: New York State RN license in hand
• Certifications:

  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA only)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA only)
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA only)
• Background Check: Must be completed within 3 months of start date, including felony checks for the last 7 years.

Health Requirements

• Physical Exam: Current health form/physical fitness for duty signed by a provider within a year of start.
• Fit Mask: Must be updated annually; fit testing required on RGH campus.
• TB Testing: PPD or IGRA test within 12 months of start; chest X-ray required for history of past positive TB test.
• Vaccinations:

  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination/Documentation required annually.
  • Hepatitis B, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella documentation required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required.

• Work History Verification: Verification of at least two past employments required.
