Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Traveler) - Night Shift

Location: Redding, California
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM (Night Shift, no exceptions)


Job Description

  • Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Work under supervision of Laboratory Director/Manager/Supervisor.
  • Perform computer data entry, filing, telephone communication, and other clerical duties.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory test terminology.
  • Use proper phlebotomy techniques and equipment for specimen collection.
  • Process specimens in microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank.
  • Prepare specimens for referral to reference laboratories.
  • Maintain and stock routine supplies; keep work areas, storage, and equipment clean.
  • Load specimens on automated laboratory instruments following established procedures.
  • Assist with sample pickup, sorting, pathology support, inventory, supply ordering, mail handling, faxing, and product deliveries.
  • Other duties as assigned by department management.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in California.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Demonstrated competency in Direct Client Interaction (DCI) and Bloodborne Pathogen Vaccination Program (BVP).

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Minimal compliance with CPT coding knowledge expected.
  • This position requires working night shifts with no exceptions.
  • The role involves both clinical specimen collection and various laboratory support tasks.
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills and professional telephone etiquette.
