Overview
- Acute Rehab unit with 7 beds
- Location: Norfolk, Nebraska
- Contract length: 12 weeks
- Shift options: Days, Nights
- Hours per week: 36
- 12-hour shifts
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- BLS
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
- 1 year of MS or Acute Rehab experience
- Skills listed as must-have: IVs, straight caths, foley, abx, isolation patients
- Nurses insert their own IVs
Preferred
- Epic experience
Unit Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
- 2 nurses on shift at a time as long as there are 5+ patients
- Common patient types: Stroke, Trauma, Cardiac, Debility, Spinal Cord Injury, Neuro, Orthopedic
- Telemetry is present on the unit, but nurses do not need to read strips; monitoring is done centrally
- RN IRF training is done in the Acute Rehab Unit
- PT/OT/SLP support is available
- RT equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP; no trachs
Schedule
- Self-scheduling allowed
- Block scheduling allowed
- Core staff sign up first
- Weekend requirement: every 3rd
- Holiday requirement: every other observed holiday
- Easter is worked by whoever is on weekend duty
- On-call may be required at times if census is low
- Weekender rotating day and night weekends; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are weekend shifts
Floating
- May float to MS, Stepdown, and BHU
- In BHU, duties may include passing meds or sitter coverage
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Unit/department orientation is 1 shift
- Scrub color: Navy for nursing
- Average length of stay is 7-10 days, up to 30 days
