Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Seeking RNs to float between Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical units. The role involves caring for inpatients, including those holding in the Emergency Department. Units include stepdown and med-telemetry areas with a variety of patient types.
Unit Details
- Units Covered: Med Surg, Telemetry, PCU (including stepdown and inpatient holding in ED)
- Nurse:Patient Ratios:
- PCU: 1:4
- Med Surg/Telemetry: 1:5-6
- Typical Patients: Geriatric, orthopedic, post-procedural cardiac patients (post-MI, post-cardiac cath, CABG post-op days 3-4)
- Drip Management: RNs are required to titrate drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.
- Respiratory Equipment: CPAP and BiPAP used in Med Surg and PCU; heated high flow in PCU.
- Telemetry: Monitor techs monitor PCU and Med Surg Telemetry units; RNs must be able to interpret cardiac strips.
- Charge Nurse: Present on each unit but does not take patient assignments.
- Nurse Aids: Utilized in all settings.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts, 7 AM to 7 PM (AM and PM shifts)
- Scheduling: Schedule published 6 weeks in advance for 4 weeks at a time; float pool scheduler assigns shifts. Night shift may allow block scheduling.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Included in permanent staff rotation
- Call/Standby: None
- Shift Notification: Assignments communicated 2 hours before shift start via text message
- Travel Between Campuses: Approximately 20-25 minutes travel time
- Dress Code: Solid color professional scrubs; transitioning to navy scrubs per upcoming guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Current RN license for Arizona
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing
- Minimum 1 year experience in PCU setting
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
- Exams: Must pass dysrhythmia exam with at least 80% within two attempts prior to contract start
- Skills: Comfortable managing multiple titratable drips and interpreting cardiac rhythms
Additional Notes
- Candidates must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any related facilities within the past year.
- Orientation includes an 8-hour general hospital orientation day plus 12-hour shifts on Med Tele and PCU units for training.
- Flexibility is required due to floating between units and campuses.

Cost of living is High, roughly $2000-2500 for your own private space. Float between East and West Campus, 25 minutes apart, west will likely be where you spend 75% of your shifts so pick your housing accordingly.
