Registered Nurse - Postpartum

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts
Unit: 5N Postpartum
Shift: Rotating
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Work every other weekend and every other major holiday
Acute care experience required
Scrubs provided
Orientation includes 3 days hospital system-wide plus 3 days on unit
No mandatory on-call, but volunteers may be asked to cover vacant shifts
Unit has 13 Postpartum beds and 4 Continuing Care Nursery beds
Common patient diagnoses: post vaginal delivery, post c-section delivery, intermittent postpartum magnesium treatment, postpartum hemorrhage
Required drips and medications: IV antibiotics, IV magnesium intermittently, PRBC transfusions, Rhogam, Lovenox
Specialty equipment used: Welch Allyn blood pressure monitors, Nihon Khoden, venodyne machine, IV pump, panda warmer, Medela breast pump
Patient population includes newborns

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Massachusetts
Minimum 1 year of Postpartum nursing experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NRP certification
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Acute care experience

Additional Information

Travel experience preferred but first-time travelers will be considered
Local candidates within 50 miles are welcome
Flu vaccine required during flu season
