Employment Type: Travel Contract

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)

Unit Overview

  • Unit Type: Emergency Room
  • Number of Beds: 26
  • Number of Staff: 67
  • Patient Ratio: 4:1
  • Equipment Used: Ventilators, EKG, Teleneuro
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Level 3
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend days required during contract
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Permanent Positions Available on Unit: Yes

Typical Unit Staffing

  • Night Shift Staff Includes:
    • 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC)
    • 1 Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
    • 6-7 Registered Nurses (RNs)
    • 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)/Paramedics

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License (Texas)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention Training)

Additional Preferred Certifications:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NIH Certification
  • STABLE (care of sick infants)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention Training) certification

  • IV insertion
  • EKG monitoring
  • Foley catheter insertion and removal
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Central line management
  • Moderate sedation
  • Cardioversion
