Location: Montclair, New Jersey

Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6

Required Certifications

  • NJ Registered Nurse License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - as applicable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable

Competencies and Testing

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online)
  • Competency Exam (minimum passing score 80% or higher if Angoff score is higher)
  • Annual Core Testing (for subcontractors)

Background and Verification Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
  • HHS/OIG check upon hire
  • Education verification (highest level) required
  • Work history verification for 7 years (NJ requires minimum 1 year prior to start with no gaps over 30 days)
  • Transcript/Diploma may be accepted as placeholder if education verification is delayed
  • Fingerprinting (time sensitive, for New Mexico placements only)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must renew annually
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (for positive TB results)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted if negative/equivocal
  • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (dose 1 and fully vaccinated if applicable)

  • Locals within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment

This position offers an opportunity to work nights in a telemetry unit with a 1:6 patient ratio, using Epic charting, and requires a minimum of 1 year of RN experience. Prior travel experience is not required.
